The road from Konani to Quime may be described as follows: Konani to Caxata a gentle gradient on a paved road for 45 km. accross glacially rounded low hills and dry lake beds. From Caxata at 4200m to the Cumbre of Tres Cruces at 5400m the road is recently graded and in excellent condition for 20 km gentle to moderate slope with incredible views of the Cordillera de Quimsa Cruz. From the Cumbre to Quime at 3000m is 35 km is steep gradient with switch backs on the road and even steeper on the biking trail. The best bet is to take a bus with your bikes from La Paz to the Cumbre de Tres Cruces and bike into Quime. You could also take your bikes to Conani from Cochabamba or Oruro and bike in from there. There is a cheap alojamiento for in Conani.
Then continue from Quime around the Great Circle Route to Miguillas, Irupana, Chulumani and Coroico. OR Bike to Chulumani and continue to Irupana, Miguillas, Inquisivi and Quime. Biking the main highway from Oruro to La Paz is both boring and dangerous.
From Viloco to Quime: This is a day of cycling first near the glaciers of the Cordillera Quimsa Cruz to the junction with the the Konani/Quime Road about 2 km above Caxata.
