Charleston had some interesting things to see.

Charleston had some interesting things to see. The mall was nice, the coliseum was beautiful and very big, the capital was certainly beautiful and worth seeing. The highway is located conveniently as well. There were a lot of restaurants and such, but there were definitely some bad parts about this area. There were a lot of LARGE potholes in the road, many areas were very run down and not very safe, and some neighborhoods weren’t somewhere I would feel comfortable staying at either. Staying here for a night was okay. I did enjoy some of my time here though. My favorite spots were the areas near the mall and the mall itself. We ate at a Hardee’s, McDoanld’s, and at the Outback which were all pretty good! Getting around Charleston is okay, it’s not overly complicated. If you’re not used to driving in a little bit of a larger area with added lanes and more traffic then definitely bring someone with you to help out. Parking garages in the area are confusing, and don’t use Spot Hero if you’re going to an event for parking. The garages don’t take your QR code and you’ll have to pay for the parking garage again. Don’t waste your money there. I would avoid Dunbar next time, and focus mainly on the Charleston area itself. Near the mall isn’t bad at all, it’s when you hit a little further out that things seemingly aren’t the best.

Since Charleston is my hometown I love it and miss it.

Since Charleston is my hometown I love it and miss it. It is amazing how many changes have taken place since 12/1996, when we moved away due to job changes. We have the most beautiful capital than any other state. Mountain views are beautiful during all 4 seasons.

I had to ask for coffee from a man vacuuming the hallway.

I had to ask for coffee from a man vacuuming the hallway. My bed was not made and trash in living quarter was not emptied. A woman had a barking dog and I asked the front desk if that was allowed and I was told that it was as long as they paid a fee for the dog. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and pillow cases were fresh and clean. The door jam going into the bathroom had a brown substance on it that I cleaned with wet tissues, not sure what it was, but I know what it looked like. If I could see it so should the employees who clean the room. I will never stay there again.

Well we drove around the riverfront are and downtown and liked it all. We wanted to visit the state museum but that will be for another time. We others for lunch at the Red Lobster at a shopping center. That was good. We went to the Hale House downtown for dinner. It was elegant and delicious.

Stayed here in Feb during the freeze, and the staff and hotel as a whole were really accommodating, helpful and warm. Front desk staff checked me in when they had a room ready and I really appreciated how they rushed, since I had arrived early and all. I needed extra towels and the housekeeping staff were present, helpful and nice. Front desk staff were exceptionally nice, lots of people had lost power and were staying at the hotel; although they were full and busy, there were very patient and present. Really appreciated that! :)

This is the preferred hotel for all of my visits to Charleston, WV! The location, staff, accommodations, room location, room size, bed size, comfort, amenities all are excellent! This weekend was a higher rate due to convention in town over the weekend! I would have waited to book the hotel at a later date at a lesser rate had I known that the rates were going to drop...noted for next time. The staff go above and beyond to accommodate request! Again, staff is friendly and very helpful!

Room one had Ants all over discovered right after we unpacked. Change rooms to another floor and get checked into a room where others were already in, room three back on 7th floor- we were able to stay in but was concerned for the ant problems on the 7th floor! Heard orhers at check out complaining to the front desk and the gentleman barely apologized to her. Thankfully I had my room rate adjustment done at the time of the inconvenience.

I was surprised at the quality and cleanness of the room and hallway. As a pet friendly facility, I expected a certain smell. I was pleasantly surprised because there was no smell. The hot breakfast was good with various items. The staff was very professional. I use this facility again when travel brings me back to Charleston.

Bed was hard, pillows weren't at all comfortable and breakfast was not worth the extra I paid for this hotel over my other option (that did not serve breakfast). Close to places to shop and eat, but definitely had some shady activity in the next parking lot over. Staff was polite (not friendly exactly) and rooms were clean.

I've been staying at the hotel since the fall of 2020 to visit my grandson. He attends the University of Charleston and is a football player. This trip was just so he and I could have some quality time. I & his parents stay here for all home games and I always stay here when I just want to come see him.

I need a refund. Booking.com said this was a pet friendly hotel so I booked a room. When we arrived they said they didn’t have any pet rooms available and the one I rented was not a pet friendly room. We had to go to three different hotels at midnight to find one and still got charged for this room
