Hartford is a beautiful little town with plenty of restaurants and shopping. It is not far from Milwaukee and I highly recommend staying outside of Milwaukee: the countryside is beautiful, the people are welcoming and you have access to either the city or other beautiful little towns like Cedar Grove and Hartland.

The sole reason for our visits to Hartford is to see our dear friends. As vegetarians, it's not the easiest area to find appropriate restaurants, but we are used to that and don't expect to eat well when we are in town. If you eat a less-restricted diet, you'll probably be satisfied. We have stayed in both motels (Motel 8 is horrible, AmericInn is adequate), the Cobblestone (above average), and the Westphal Mansion (easily our favorite, but we need to plan ahead to be sure of a room). We don't sightsee - we spend most of our time in our friends' home. In good weather, the drive from Minneapolis is 5.5-6 hours.AAnonymousUnited States - 8.0Scored 8.0

We stayed in Hartford overnight to have an early start hiking at Pike Lake Unit of Kettle Moraine State Park. We ate at a restaurant called Uncle Larry's Rustic Inn. We were happy with our meals and server. It was busy but the gal who waited our table did a great job on meeting our needs and being friendly. I recommend it. We will for sure be back to the area to do some kayaking once summer is here and hike some other trails/camp. There is an Automotive Museum if that is something you are into. Did not visit unfortunately.
