Hondeklipbaai is quite a depressing, run down village, with limited lighting at night so we were advised not to walk to the local restaurant. If you are keen to get away from it all, it may appeal to you - but for a family with teenagers, not an ideal destination. We were only there for a night; so did not get to the reserve; which I believe is spectacular in Spring.

Hondeklipbaai has not much to offer ito entertainment, a small, ex-fishing village which is rather run down - although the accommodation offered is totally acceptable. The prices on the menu of the harbour restuarant is, for locals travellers, somewhat pricey. Really enjoyed our trip along the rugged coastline to the shipwreck. Even though we were approached, on two occassions, for money and liquor, overall, the local folk are very friendly.

The restaurants in the harbor were good.

The restaurants in the harbor were good. Town is quite still, not sure if lockdown had an effect on this. You need to have enough groceries with you as the shops are small and don't really have a variety. The roads around town were good condition and many picnic options.

A sleepy, remote little seaside town - I guess quaint would describe it - that is generally worth a visit. Bear in mind that it is not easy to get to, and generally I would not recommend a long stay, especially with kids (there is not much to do). But is is a friendly town, and I have throughly enjoyed my visits there.

Accessability a problem. drove +/- 150 km on a very bad gravel road to get there and another 85km to get out. Very bad for any vehicle. Accommodation not what I was expecting. Maybe good for fishermen.

it is a quiet small village with nice lodges. beach (in August) is not nice. Travel to go there is 80km of unpaved road. I think going there for 1 day is too long trip. Go there if you plan to stay in the middle of nothing for more than 2 days! Anyway it is worth to have a look at it
