This hotel is beach front and although it was foggy and rainy, we could still see the ocean.
We liked the fact that there as a little cafe run by Dave who made us up a shrimp and salad supper so we didn’t have to navigate in the fog!
Most of all, the staff at the hotel are great and super helpful. We had a problem with payment which has been sorted out by the Manager, Lynnsey.

We really love the OBX and this hotel is in a perfect location for whatever you want to do!!
We have stayed here several times and will definitely stay here again.
You can’t beat the off season rates for everything they have to offer.

The last time I was in KDH was about 20 years ago and I have to say time has not not been kind to it. So commercial, touristy and filthy. Litter and cigarette butts covered the side of the road, where you will have to walk if you want some exercise, as there are no sidewalks on many of the busy streets.
We visited in the off-season as a side trip on our way from NJ to GA so we could go to the Wright Brothers memorial. The memorial is nicely done, and the building it is housed in is lovely. I'd suggest making a day trip to see it and then getting out of town.

My review is of the outer banks area - kill devil hills to Corolla.
Loved exploring the area and seeing the wild horses.
Lots of seafood restaurants and beautiful scenery.
We didn’t get a chance to see the Orville brothers monument or check out the Lighthouse.
We definitely didn’t expect to see dolphins especially so many on our beach drive. Very beautiful area and would love to go back when it’s warmer.

The staff was very friendly, the hotel was pet friendly, and the location was excellent. We also liked the gym facilities, which included quality cardio equipment and weights. The beach exceeded our expectations, and the hotel is oceanfront. Amazing views and sunsets! The hotel has been updated. Overall, it met our expectations for the price at this time of year. We didn’t get a chance to try the tiki bar, but we heard great things! We’d probably stay here again!
I thought I was getting the oceanfront for the price we paid on booking.com we actually were given the court side room next to the road . I asked and was told because we booked through booking.com is why we were not given oceanfront .. If I had just booked through the hotel instead of booking.com we would have had ocean view and paid less ...the hotel itself is nice close to ocean clean friendly people but the bar across from us was very loud until after 12:30
We liked everything about OuterI Banks. 🥰
Problem with booking- I worked through Outer Banks about the dates of our stay. They only book Saturday to Saturday. ( July 10th - July 17th) When I booked through you, it was Sunday to Sunday.( July 11th- July 18th) I tried several times to get your dates to match their dates.
Please check in the future with the hotel/resort to make your dates match their dates.😪
The location of Driftin Sands is right across from the ocean. There was a walkway to the beach a few houses away. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment which was roomy enough to leave our dog Lucy without worrying about her disturbing others or being disturbed by others. The hotel was very pet friendly and comfortable for us and our dog.
Although the main areas of the hotel itself are a little tired, the rooms look refreshed and more modern and it all seemed very clean. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It is a great location and from our room we had a view of the ocean, what more could you want?!?
Everything! Staff was great, location was perfect, beach acces was perfect. One of the most comfortable beds we've had in a hotel. Breakfast was good. Honestly have zero complaints. Will stay again next time we come to Outer Banks.
Right on the beach, which was good. The pool looked okay, though I didn't swim in it this time. Some OK places to eat nearby. Good location; not far from the Kitty Hawk exhibits. Breakfast was typical for a Comfort Inn.
It was beach/ocean front - just steps to the water. The view was spectacular! The refrigerator was larger than most you find in a hotel.
The hotel staff were not just helpful, but genuinely friendly!
It’s right on the beach, well maintained (they were painting the entire exterior to make it look pretty) and has everything you need. Our room looked newly renovated and was very clean!
Hotel was located close to restaurants, bars and right on the beach. Staff was great and breakfast was a good way to start the day. Price was pretty good for what you got!
Location was perfect! 3 queen beds, full size frig, stovetop, large room, great A/C, right on the beach, centrally located in Kill Devil Hills. Hated to leave!
