Horrible room. So tiny and dingy.

Horrible room. So tiny and dingy. I booked a deluxe room, nothing about it was deluxe. Make sure you see the actual picture of the room before booking. Beware of room 124. Stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and we had fond memories of it. Boy have things changed, the manager needs to get a better grip on his hotel. They advertise and recommend their dining room . On the Friday we arrived and the next Sat, it was closed for a wedding. On the third night it was closed no explanation.. the service for breakfast was dismally slow and the food was good but not always hot. Do not book with booking.com as they did not reply with a solution to my room problem.

    Not the idyllic Vermont Inn.

Not the idyllic Vermont Inn. Right on the highway - there was no quiet porch sitting! No usable elevator, no microwave in room. Noisy AC units in lobby prevented relaxing there. Dinner dining room closed 3 days of the week. One good thing - it is in middle of Middlebury for walking ease. That's it.

I had never been to this part of the country, and was very impressed. I only went so I could help my daughter move in to the college there for the summer. I am so glad I accompanied her! I can not wait to visit again and stay longer if possible. I loved the Inn we stayed at, and the people were great everywhere we went. What a clean town! I could not find a piece of trash anywhere. No stray animals in sight, just immaculate. I thought I was on a movie set! Adorable, darling, tiny town. Kinda wish I lived here!

Visiting the college or spending the night to dine in the historic downtown while traveling to other destinations would be the primary reasons for staying in Middlebury. There is a charming waterfall and covered bridge for added interest. The wonderful Shelburne Museum is only thirty-five minutes away and there is also a local history museum in town.

Middlebury and the surrounding area are great for enjoying the quintessential Vermont experience. There is plenty to explore and do. Middlebury is very walkable as is the Burlington area. Plenty of good shops and restaurants in both areas. We enjoyed a visit to the Lake Champlain Chocolate factory and the Switchback Brewery.

The Courtyards are the younger siblings of the Fairfields and are still very comfortable and have very similar amenities. Our King room was spacious, with a couch to create a separate sitting area. The bed was very comfortable, the room modern and clean and the staff very helpful and attentive. The hotel is a quick drive to downtown Middlebury and has some fast food and a grocery store across the street. Very handy. We would certainly stay here again.

The motel was just as advertised with great looking candy themed decorations in each room. It is a small, quiet motel in a good location just south of downtown Middlebury and convenient to everything including Middlebury College. The breakfast nook was a great idea and very handy so you could have your breakfast items in the fridge in your room when you woke up. There is a candy shop on site with Vermont's largest selection of candy!

I love the appearance of the old Inn, that it maintains its original heritage charm. I appreciated the lobby area with its couches and work spaces where you could plug in a laptop or charge your phone while having a complimentary cofee (which was delicious). The staff were all helpful, but some were friendlier than others 😊. I liked the tiling in the walls of the bathtub. Love the old elevator. I love Middlebury, beautiful town.

Really liked the historic character and decor of the hotel, all nicely restored (especially the 97-year old Elevator, which required a hotel attendent to operate manually, making it an entertaining ride!). Nice large sitting area in the lobby. The bathroom plumbing worked flawlessly, which is often not the case in old hotels.

Beautiful traditional Inn with original decor. Felt like traveling back in time. The rooms are furnished in old style, but not dated. Beds were very comfy and bathroom modernized, even had an infrared heating system. Very central location in Middlebury. Good value for money compared to other places we stayed at.
