Brentford is in London.
Brentford is a western suburb of London in the borough of Hounslow, located along the northern bank of the River Thames between Chiswick and Isleworth. The name is derived from the River Brent, which joins the Thames in Brentford, although many of the final miles of the Brent now form part of the Grand Union Canal.
While once important as both an industrial hub and a Thames port (Brentford Dock having been the terminus for GWR goods trains from the west, as well as where the Thames and inland waterways converged), Brentford is now largely a dormitory suburb. Much of its Regency and Victorian centre was demolished following the second world war, replaced by low-rise housing and a modern High Street. However, the area of late Victorian terraced housing around Brentford FC's football ground retains much of its original character, while half a mile to the west, The Butts Estate (an area of attractive and unspoilt Queen Anne housing located behind the High Street) also possesses a ambience of tranquility and period charm.
