    Chuncheon International Mime Festival
    -Chuncheon International Mime Festival(Starts every Wednesday of the fourth week in May for five days): A globally renowned art performance festival in Korea. The main event consists of performances of international and domestic mime groups, and there are special events such as street performances, mime lessons, body painting shows, and mime concerts throughout the festival period. -Yeongwol Danjong Festival(Early April, for three days): The Ministry of Culture and Tourism gave special designation to the Yeongwol Danjong Festival. It is held to console the spirits of King Danjong, whose life ended in a tragedy after exile by King Sejo, the sixth king of the Joseon dynasty, and his followers who sacrificed their lives. The festival starts with a commemorative funeral followed by a parade honoring King Danjong's life, and a traditional marriage. -Gangneung Danoje(May 3 ~ May 7 of the lunar calendar every year, mid June): Gangwon-do's largest folk festival was registered in 2000 with UNESCO Intangible Cultural Assets. The city becomes a festive ambience with over 50 official events. The greatest attractions are the Gwanno Mask Play, open-air market with a thousand shops and splendid fireworks.

  • -Chuncheon International Animation Festival(Late July~Early August, for eight days)�: In the city of animation, Chuncheon, visitors can enjoy the animation festival with its display of domestic and international animations. There are many events related to animation and the character world, as well as animation drawing contests. -Chuncheon International Puppet Festival(Early August, for seven days): Visitors can enjoy various unique puppets from all over the world. The main event: puppet shows from the world over. -Donghae Cuttlefish Festival(Late September, for three days)�: People can make special memories by partaking in a wide array of events in the summer ocean. Tourists can participate in contests of catching cuttlefish with bare hands, while local fishermen take part in the cuttlefish cleaning and cooking contests. -Pyeongchang Hyoseok Culture Festival(Late August - early September): Lee Hyoseok, one of the greatest authors of modern Korean literature, holds the festival at Pyeongchang, the actual stage of the story, When the Buckwheat Flowers Bloom. During the festival visitors can also enjoy the special ambiance created by the prolific buckwheat flowers.

  • -Yangyang Song-i Mushroom (Pine Mushroom) Festival(Early October, for five days): Song-i mushrooms are known as the golden mushrooms, diamonds of the forest and mysterious spiritual beings. The Song-i Mushroom Festival is an opportunity to observe the habitat of song-i mushrooms that are strictly monitored. Anyone can enjoy the mysteriousness of these delicious pine mushrooms, but reservations should be made in advance. -Jeongseon Arirang Festival(Early October, for three days): This festival is held annually to promote Korea's primal folk song -- actually, set of folk songs -- the Jeongseon Arirang. The festival starts with disguise parades and folk events followed by various sports and cultural events such as performances of Arirang. -Yangyang Salmon Festival(Early November, for two days): This festival is held in the fresh waters of Namdaecheon, the biggest Korean river up which salmon swim. Apart from a good look at the natural ecosystem, there are various events such as catching salmon with bare hands, regular salmon fishing, and running with salmon. -Chuncheon International Marathon(Late October): This marathon circles Uiamho Lake, famous for its beautiful scenery. This is considered the optimal marathon in terms of scenery, difficulty and weather. There is a full course of 42.195 km and short courses of 5 and 10 km. Here is an international marathon that anyone can enjoy, running with world-famous marathoners.

  • -Snow Flake Festival (Daegwallyeong /Mt. Taebaeksan/Mt. Seoraksan) (Mid January, for nine days): Winter in Gangwon-do is full of white snow everywhere. Across the mountains in Gangwon-do, visitors can enjoy a wide array of events such as ice sculpture contests, climbing ice covered cliffs, and snow sleds like the old days. -Inje Icefish Festival and Hwacheon Mountain Trout Festival (Every mid January~mid February)�: The Inje Icefish Festival and the Hwacheon Mountain Trout Festival, the most popular winter festivals of Gangwon-do, are both held on the white ice fields created by frozen lakes. Catching the smelt and mountain trout that live only in Class-1 pure water on the hard and endless ice fields is a fun experience for many Koreans. A variety of snow and ice events, such as snow-sledding, an igloo exhibition, and snow sculptures, are also held, but the most exciting experience is walking and running on the thick ice of the frozen lakes! -Fun Ski Festival(Early December to early March, around seven times): A ski festival for foreign visitors in Yongpyeong Resort, the Mecca of Korean skiing. For three nights and four days, participants enjoy ski lessons, dinners and various events. On the last day, all participants take part in a ski competition. Many foreigners participate in this romantic winter festival every year to enjoy the snow and skiing as well as the fun parties.
