Visitors from the CIS countries, Georgia and Argentina do not need a visa for up to 90 days.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, USA and EU countries can buy a visa when they arrive at any entry point to Armenia. A 21 day visa costs 3,000 dram (about USD8/EUR6). Border guards do accept other currencies but they will not give you a good exchange rate. It is best to have Armenian dram before you arrive at the boarder. Some travelers have been charged as much as $20USD to purchase the visa. Boarder guards and Customs also cannot make change for your $100USD note so don't even try. To add an extra convenience to the procedure, Armenian Government has introduced an e-Visa policy, which means, that nationals of almost all countries may apply for visa online.
Passport holders of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Egypt, Iraq, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Sudan ) must apply for a visa at the nearest embassy/consulate before arriving .
For convenience, at the Yerevan airport, there is a change booth and ATM located before customs and immigration. There is also a hefty surcharge of approximately USD $10 for changing traveler's checks, which in general are not widely used in Armenia. You have to pay for Visa in local currency, Dram, therefore change at the change booth or ATM before customs clearance.
