As South Sudan achieved independence only recently, the immigration rules are somewhat unclear. The German Foreign Office advises its citzens that a passport (valid for another six months) as well as a visa is necessary to enter South Sudan. A visa may be issued at the land borders or at the South Sudanese liaison offices, e.g. in Kampala, Uganda or Nairobi, Kenya.
