Malalane is 10 minutes away from Malalane Gate entering Kruger National Park. Malalane meaning “the place of small lala palms",King Mswati’s Emlalani regiment was named after where the town now stands.
Malalane town was planned in the form of a wagon wheel and the town was officially established on 6 July 1949.
In 1985 when a new rest camp Berg-en-Dal was opened in Kruger National Park, Malalane Gate was named as one of the main entrances into the park, leading to an increase in tourism in this farming area. Malalane now offers various lodging ranging from Bed and Breakfast, Guesthouses, 4 and 5 Star Lodges and private game reserves – offering services to satisfy all types of discerning travelers.
