Take note that many shops and restaurants in Porto, especially smaller ones located along La Ribeira, do not accept international credit cards, and some places may claim that their credit card processing machine is not working. Only cash or the local Multibanco card are accepted, so it is wise to carry a little extra cash just in case. Shops are open a little later than other places in Europe, usually around 9:30AM-10PM, and the lunch breaks can be quite long, usually from 1PM to 3PM. You can buy a Lisbon Shopping Card , which gives you 5% to 20% discounts at about 200 major stores in Baixa, Chiado and Av. Liberdade for a period of 24 hours (card costs EUR3.70) or 72 hours (card costs EUR5.70).
