Skiing in Zermatt

The Monterosa Ski area consists of three linked ski areas in the shadow of the eponymous Monte Rosa mountain in the Valle d'Aosta region of Italy. The valleys start in the west with the most popular village of Champlouc. Further east of there is the valley centred on the town of Gressoney La Trinite. The final valley is Alagna. The whole area is ideal for skiers of every level although there is a limited amount of beginner green runs. However many of the blue runs are gentle, wide cruising stretches that will flatter beginners. Experts will find few black runs but there is some of Europe's best off piste over around Alagna.
