Roughly a triangle bordered by Croatia to north and west, Central Bosnia to southeast, and Northeastern Bosnia to east, Bosanska Krajina (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (Босанска Крајина) for "Bosnian Frontier", as the region was a border zone between Austrian and Ottoman Empires once) is northwestern part of the country.
Roughly divided politically in half, western half of Bosanska Krajina forms part of Bosniak/Croat-majority Federation, while eastern half forms part of Republic of Srpska. Most of formerly multi-ethnic towns of the region are now (since the Yugoslav Wars of 1992?1995) dominated by an ethnicity, depending on which side of the inter-entity border they fall on.
