Eating in Macon (France)

Er Bleimor: Very good crèpes for €5-10 a crèpe, but be sure to make reservations if you plan on going as it is small and usually full. Restaurant Pierre: Gastronomic restaurant with menus starting at €30 up to 80€ without drinks. There are many other restaurants from kebab and sandwich vendors to Chinese and Indian cuisine. If you are feeling adventurous you can head out into the countryside across the river where many restaurants serve "poulet de bresse à la crème" (supposedly the best chicken in France) as well as other local specialities such as fresh frog legs (tastes like chicken in garlic butter) and "escargot de bourgogne" (snails, which taste like rubbery garlic butter). Prices range from modest (around €20) at "Restaurant du Pont" in Saint Romain des Iles, to medium (around €40) at "Le Saint Laurent" in Saint Laurent (just acoss the bridge in downtown), to very expensive (€100-200) at "Georges Blanc" in Vonnas.
