Middlefield prides itself on being the secluded getaway from the busy life. There is no night life to speak of, but Main Street in Middletown has plenty. Wallingford has Route 5, and Berlin has the Berlin Turnpike. These strips offer a good time for the 21 pluses, and Middlefield remains the quiet neighbor.
What you can do in town, though, happens at Lyman Orchards. The Apple Barrel is the main store, where you can pick up information on any goings on around the grounds. In addition to the three, count 'em, Three golf courses, there are seasonal hay rides, a corn maze, live music, frisbee golf, and Pick-Your-Own fruit. This sort of fun is not for everyone, but it is a great source of some good old-timey fun. The kiddies will love it, and the fresh fruit is second to none.
