Atlanta
Georgia's capital and largest city. The city limits are convoluted due to extensive politicking, so Atlantans tend to think of I-285 (the beltloop highway 10 miles outside the city, often called the Perimeter) as the practical border of Atlanta, and often speak of destinations as being ITP (inside the Perimeter) or OTP (outside the Perimeter).
Northwest (I-75 North)
A suburban area mostly synonymous with Cobb County. Vinings, Smyrna, Marietta, Kennesaw
North (GA-400)
Destinations here are further outside the city. Historic Roswell, Alpharetta, Cumming
Northeast (I-85 North, GA-141)
A major commuter corridor. Historic Norcross, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Suwanee, Buford
East (I-20 East, US-78 East)
Stone Mountain, Snellville
Southeast (I-75 South)
Less populated, home to many factory outlet stores. Stockbridge
Southwest (I-85 South)
Fayetteville and exclusive Peachtree City, home to many well-paid Delta pilots.
West (I-20 West)
Austell, Powder Springs, Douglasville, and Six Flags Over Georgia
