Many features make St. Andrews an appealing destination for both travellers and residents. The historic Fairmont Algonquin hotel, one of the many original Canadian Pacific properties across the country, is a popular resort hotel, complete with spa, outdoor pool, golf course and other amenities. Just steps down the road is the magnificent 27-acre Kingsbrae Garden, a national award winning public garden, open daily, 9am to 6pm, from mid-May to mid-October and then again for the Town’s “A Season of Lights and Wonder” winter festival in November and December, with the “Garden of Lights and Festival of Trees”. There are many themed gardens, composed of over 50,000 perennials, shrubs and trees – Gravel, Children’s Fantasy, Bird & Butterfly, Knot, Rock, Heather, Scents & Sensitivity, Edible, Perennial, Rose and Therapy Gardens, to name a few. Other features include a 1/3 scale genuine Dutch windmill, miles of ancient cedar hedges, a cedar maze, ponds, streams, ducks, goats and peacocks, as well as a Garden Café, Gift Shop & Art Gallery.
