Spring/SummerSwansea Bay Summer Festival is the umbrella term for a number of events occurring in the Swansea Bay area from May to September. Only the main festivals are listed below. For other events, check the official website:
  • Swansea Bay Film Festival, Dylan Thomas Centre. . 7 May-15 May 2011. The UK's largest screening of indie films with Catherine Zeta Jones acting as patron.
  • Swansea Live, Castle Square and Lower Oxford Street. 29 May 2011 (11:30AM-5PM). Live music at two city centre venues. Attendance free.
  • Rod Stewart in Concert, Liberty Stadium. 1 June 2011.
  • Escape into the Park, Singleton Park. and 11 June 2011. (mid-day to midnight). An annual pop and dance extravaganza held late summer. Capacity 25,000. £41:50.
  • JSL in Concert, Liberty Stadium. 12 June 2011. £32.50
  • South Wales Boat Show, SA1 Waterfront. 17-19 June 2011. Touted as Wales' largest boating event.
  • Swansea Pride, (gay pride festival), Lacrosse field, Singleton Park. 25 June 2011 (all day event).
  • Wales National Airshow, Swansea Bay. 09-10 July 2011. Spectacular aeronautical displays led by the world famous Red Arrows.
  • World Party, Museum Park, National Waterfront Museum. 27 Aug 2011. Celebrates the cultural diversity of Swansea by showcasing world music, food and dance.
  • Gower Bluegrass Festival, Gower Heritage Centre, Parkmill. 12 noon to 12 midnight, 9-10 September 2011. Tel: +44 1792 371-206.
  • Autumn/Winter
  • RHL Weston Beach Race, Swansea Beach. 7-9 Oct 2011. The UK's largest festival of off-road bike racing. Admission free on Friday. A wide range admission charges for weekend. See official website for details: . This event has been postponed until 2-4 March 2012
  • Swansea Festival of Music and the Arts, 6-22 Oct 2011. An annual (October) three week bash of culture at various locations in Swansea, and the second largest such festival in the UK.
  • Dylan Thomas Festival The Dylan Thomas Centre, - held annually between 27 Oct - 9 Nov 2011. During these two weeks, the centre built to commemorate the works of Thomas reverberates to the sound of his poems and plays. This is a must see event for fans of the bard. In addition, the festival hosts the awards' ceremony for the winner of the Dylan Thomas Prize - a biannual writing competition for most outstanding literary talent in English, aged under 30.
  • Dylan Thomas Fringe - compliments the main events at the Dylan Thomas Festival and is held at various venues throughout the city. 26 Oct - 8 Nov 2011
  • Beyond TV International Film Festival, Dylan Thomas Centre - an annual festival of social and environmental themed films. 22-23 Nov 2008
  • Winter Wonderland . This event held next to the National Waterfront Museum includes stalls selling traditional Christmas goods, a big wheel offering views over Swansea Bay and an ice rink. 18 Nov 2011 - 8 Jan 2012
