Uncomfortable (but nonetheless interesting) pick-ups head up the mountain when sufficiently full of tourists. A wooden plank costs 1,500 kyat, or a more ordinary front seat 2,000 kyat.
It is possible to get carried up the mountain on a throne (not kidding) for something like seven dollars. How happy the Burmese are with this mode of transport remains questionable. Not advised for overweight travelers.
