Pobedilovo airport is situated 22 kilometers to the West from the city. It was virtually not functioning in the 90's, but in the first decade of the XXI century the flight to Moscow was reintroduced. Now the airport has daily service to Moscow, and flights to Saint Petersburg, Anapa, Sochi and Naryan-Mar (operated by UTair and IzhAvia). Currently Tu-134, An-24 and ATR-42 planes are used, but after the renovation of the runway, which is due to finish in 2012, the airport will be able to accept Airbus A319 and Boeing-737 class of planes. There are plans to introduce international flights to Turkey and Egypt if the airport manages to obtain the international status.
