How to get out Fairport (New York)
Retail strips of more suburban character are available just a mile or two outside the village: to the west along Route 31F, to the north (Lloyd's Corners in Penfield) where Route 250 meets State Route 441, and to the south (Perinton Square) where Route 250 meets State Route 31. You'll find Wegmans supermarkets and plenty of chain restaurants in all three locations.
The other nearby canal communities are well worth visiting, especially Bushnell's Basin and Pittsford to the west. Off the canal, East Rochester is to the northwest; Route 31F heads out that way. The village of Victor is to the south, with the area's most upscale shopping mall nearby; take Route 250 to State Route 96.
For urban attractions and amenities, the city of Rochester is only about nine or ten miles away by road; take Route 31F west to Interstate 490.
