South on I-270 leads south to Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Bethesda towards D.C. and north to Frederick.
Just northwest of Germantown are some good outdoor attractions, especially Sugarloaf Mountain —the Maryland Capital Region's favorite climb, with great views over the surrounding farmland, as well as Little Bennett Regional Park , which has tent campgrounds.
