How to get out Valldal

In summer there is a scheduled car ferry from Valldal to Geiranger. The ferry has limited capacity and runs only two or three times a day, make a reservation or arrive early to make sure that there is space for your car. The ferry is expensive but provides a 2 hour cruise on the Geirangerfjord. From Valldal there are buses to Ålesund, Geiranger and Åndalsnes. By car: roads to Geiranger (short ferry at Linge), Ålesund and Åndalsnes via Trollstigen.
  • Visit Åndalsnes via the Trollstigen. Trollstigen ("The Troll Pathway") is a mountain road on national highway 63 between Åndalsnes and Valldal in West Norway. It is one of Norway's major attractions due to its steep incline and eleven hairpin bends climbing cliffs and steep hills until the mountain pass. Trollstigen is closed during the fall and winter months. A normal opening season stretches from the mid of May to October.
