A well maintained library where subscribers can register here for Rs 150 by presenting proof of identity. This allows them to take one book for a monthly fee of Rs 60 or Rs 100 for two books for a period of two weeks. This library also has a park near it, where you can sit and read your favorite books in the evenings. �

The Ernakulam Public Library is one of the oldest public library in India started in 1839. Books could be rented for 2 weeks for various rental options ranging from Rs 60 for four books to Rs 15 for single book. A refundable caution deposit is required ranging between Rs 1,000-250 depending upon membership class. There is a free reading room with good collection of all national and international newspapers and magazines. Eloor Lending Library, Convent Junction (Near St. Theresa’s College), ☎ +91 484 2363539. Daily 10AM-8PM. Eloor Lending Library has mainly two membership options. Unlike other libraries, this library has a different way of lending books. Here when you take membership by paying Rs. 1, 200 you can access books worth Rs. 1,800. When you pay Rs. 600 you can access books worth Rs. 900. Here you have to pay (an additional) 10% of the price of the books you take, as the reading charge. �
Library Café, Press Club Road (Opp. Spencer’s Churidhar), ☎ +91 484 5526626. Mon-Sat 9AM-8PM, Sun 10AM-8PM. Library Café is popular among the youth in the city. Along with books, they also lend film DVDs. They have a good collection of films from renowned directors like Bergman, Kim Ki Duk and others. One can take two books and one DVD per month for Rs 25. For Rs 300, one can take unlimited books and DVDs for 2 weeks. A refundable deposit of Rs 400 is required. �
