Roxbury (Maine) activities: What to do in Roxbury (Maine)

  • Roxbury Pond, also known as Ellis Pond or Silver Lake (just off Route 120 in Roxbury). A large pond with sandy beaches and a boat launch. Swimming, canoeing, fishing and boating are common on this body of water.
  • Bunker Rock provides a nice swimming hole experience across from the cemetery just after Frye Crossover Road on Route 17. A very large steep boulder has maintained a deep pool perfect for a cool swim. The water is typically deep eenough for one to dive into the water from the boulder. After the deep pool the water level gradually levels off to a nice rocky sand bar that is above the water level during the summer months. Smaller children and their families enjoy this feature. In the evening hours, locals sometimes head to Bunker Rock for a quick skinny dip.
