San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan are the most well-known (and visited) Maya villages, but there are others, such as Tenejapa and San Andres Larrainzar, that are equally as fascinating, and they receive very little tourism. The best day to visit the Maya communities are during their weekly markets and festivals.
