JR's Kitami, Nishi-Kitami, Hakuyo, and Itoshino Stations are located in central Kitami. The limited express Okhotsk runs 6 times per day (each way) in winter, and 4 times per day in the summer. It operates from Sapporo and Abashiri. There are also Futsu local trains from Engaru and Abashiri about once every hour. The Special Rapid 'Kitami' train runs from Asahikawa once per day.
