MostFamous: Zhongshan Road
Zhongshan road is known as one of the “10 popular streets of China”, it is a traditional ostentatiously prosperous commercial zone. Along two sides there are hundreds of shops and stores in which displayed a dazzling array of beautiful exhibits tagged with reasonable price. The opening time is generally from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. so that provide enough time for shopping. The major famous and big places on the street are Hualian Building, Huahui Market, Paris Spring and Jinlu-Jewelry, etc.
The buildings along Zhongshan Road are in various shapes, it artfully combines the European architecture style with the costal city character. It is the sole commercial street leading to sea, which forms convenient transportation, you can enjoy the great sightseeing while shop.
Close to Zhongshan Road there are also Siming North, South, West and East Road, Jukou Street and so on, which are also good for shopping.
Xiamen University Street
This street is actually half street because the other half is belong to Nanputuo Temple. Hundreds of shops open on the street which is only hundreds meters. Most of these shops sell fashionable garments and cultural things, besides, the book stores are also attracting.
The distinguishing feature of the street is the cultural atmosphere echoed with Xiamen University. Each shop is filled with a strong sense of cultural no matter it is catering, clothing or selling sports requisites.
World Trade Mall
World Trade Mall is a public place of shopping, leisure and entertainment which enjoys a great reputation in Xiamen. It is near the railway station in the city center, which offers a convenient transportation. Except for the world-known Wal-Mart, Paris Spring and McDonald, KFC entering the Mall, the cola food plaza on the 5th floor also worth mentioning, in which all kinds of Xiamen traditional famous snacks, Chinese food and exotic taste gathered together. In the Mall, you can enjoy a great time in a warm and fragrant environment.
Dragon Head Road (Longtou Road) and Quanzhou Road in Gulangyu Island
Dragon Head Road (Longtou Road) is one of the major commercial roads of Xiamen and also the only way to Gulangyu Island. Shops along the street are major in artworks, handicrafts and painting, which sell the local artworks like beaded, Lacquer thread sculpture, Color bar, ceramics and so on, plus Chinese antiques, jade, paining and ceramics. Nanguo nuts shop is popular, it is a good choice for the tourists to take back some dried food and nuts and present to friends and relatives. A Tip: you can bargain with the sellers.
